In looking at the December,
2007 issue of the RCCEHA Newsletter and tips for improving safety of our
neighborhood, it occurred to me that one simple item was not mentioned,
namely the reporting of burned out street lights. Unless someone reports
them, it is unlikely they will be repaired. This not only increases
opportunity for crime, but also creates a hazardous situation for children or
anyone out jogging or walking dogs in our streets.
Lights in RCCE are either
repaired by Oncor or the City of Fort Worth. If you
contact one and they don’t handle the light you reported, you’ll need to
contact the other. Oncor's web site is at http://www.oncor.com/community/streetlights/form.aspx; fill in the
questions, making sure you give the address or cross streets where
the burned out light is located. You can also call Oncor at 1-888-313-4747 to make a report. The City of
Fort Worth light repair people can be reached through a Diana Bustos at (817) 392-8100(special thanks to RCCE’s Linda
Thomas for this number).
I would encourage people to
take a moment when they are outside in front of their house or on the
neighborhood streets after dark to make a note of any burned out street lights
they see and report them. The repair crews should have the light bulbs
replaced within 15 days after being reported.
