FUTURE VISION

This is just the beginning of our neighborhood web site and it will take some time to fully develop. Our vision is to build a kind of 21st Century white/yellow  electronic phone book with vastly more useful information than either could possibly provide in the past. Your suggestions are encouraged to ensure it becomes something that is of use to all in our neighborhood.

You might have noticed that, after signing on to the web site, when you display either the ‘Neighborhood Sortable or Modifiable’ or the ‘Entered Residents’ Directories you see on the left hand side of each line an Actions column. Eventually there will be several actions, but at the moment there is only the Peo(ple) action in the ‘Neighborhood Sortable or Modifiable’ or the Rdz(Residences)  action in the Entered Residents’ Directory. The former gives you all of the people who are associated with that line’s Residence(explained more in detail in the next paragraph); the latter gives you all Residences within RCCE to which the selected Resident is related/connected. It is from the entry of the Peo(ple) at each Residence by its occupants that all else proceeds: for those residents entered we’ll eventually also be able to enter their Bus(inesses), Int(erests),  and even a Pho(to) of the resident. As these capabilities arrive so will their associated Action icons.

We have chosen deliberately to take a broad view of what a resident is. Not only can those currently living at the residence be entered but as well others whom you trust and would like to associate with your residence should be entered. Especially valuable of course would be relatives who happen to live in another residence here in our neighborhood(we seem to have a lot of them here!) or who live in the nearby area. Should the residence’s normal inhabitants not be available, nearby relatives or valued nearby friends could be quite useful in case of an emergency at your home. By the way, once a resident has been entered, he or she can be associated with as many residences as desired by simply referring to(and NOT re-entering) him/her in the ‘Entered Residents’ Directory.

Our database is password protected with encrypted passwords and is designed to prevent access to personal information of our residents by those not in the neighborhood. Additionally, when entering a resident, you can indicate whether you wish to display that resident’s birth year, so even though you enter the DOB(in YYYY-MM-DD format please), the birth year is NEVER PUBLICLY visible if you have so specified. We collect that birth year so that we can gather our own demographic information and make summary information available ONLY to our residents, provided they take a few extra seconds to enter it in the first place.
